Sampling Your Design, Staying True to Your Vision

The sample is the most critical step in your collection’s journey. It’s the first time you touch your fabric, test your fit, and see your design in three dimensions. A bad sample wastes weeks and erodes trust. A great sample accelerates everything. At EVERWORTHS, we’ve refined our sample-making process into a precision science. Our independent sample room — staffed by senior technicians and equipped with dedicated SANTONI knitting machines — operates on a 10–12 day standard turnaround. We don’t cut corners; we engineer the process to be faster by design. Whether you need a single prototype for a buyer meeting or a full size-set for a fit session, we deliver samples that look and feel like the final product — because they’re made with the same technology and standards as your bulk order.

Design Reception and Specification (Tech Pack)

The process begins with receiving a detailed design and technical specifications (tech pack) from the designer or buyer. This document outlines design details, desired measurements, fabric composition, and any specific requirements.

    Computer Graphics / Programming

Unlike traditional pattern making, seamless manufacturing relies heavily on computer programming. The design is translated into a digital format (CAD) that the seamless knitting machine can read. This step defines the garment structure, size, and pattern, eliminating the need for physical patterns.

    Knitting

The programmed data is sent to a specialized Santoni seamless circular knitting machine. This machine knits the entire garment in a continuous tube, or close to its final shape, minimizing or completely eliminating seams. This process is highly automated.

    Dyeing

The raw knitted sample is then sent for dyeing. This step ensures the fabric achieves the correct color, size, functional properties as per the design specifications.

Cutting and Sewing ( Minimal )

While the process is "seamless," some minimal cutting and sewing may still be required for specific components like attaching a gusset, inserting elastic, or finishing openings, depending on the garment's complexity.

    Ironing and Finishing

The sample is ironed and finished to achieve the desired shape and appearance. This is a crucial step for achieving a professional look.

    Quality Control and Fitting

The completed sample undergoes a thorough quality control inspection to check for defects, correct measurements, and ensure it matches the original design specifications. A fitting session is conducted on a dress form or a live model.

    Adjustments and Iteration

Feedback from the fitting and quality control is used to make necessary adjustments, often by tweaking the original computer program. The sampling process may be repeated until the sample is approved by the buyer, leading to the "approval sample" (also known as a counter or fit sample).

    Pre-Production and Mass Production

Once the final sample is approved, it serves as the benchmark for mass production. The approved computer knitting program and specifications are used for large-scale manufacturing.
